01 / Motherland Reminiscence
From the artist.
Our libraries have survived through the memories and stories passed down by our elders. I remember children gathering around an old man and listening to his stories until sunset. No television, no distractions, only the sound of his voice. We would rush home from school still wearing our khaki uniforms. Golden Tales shows four children because I grew up with three siblings. In the painting, the children are both the audience and the future keepers of the stories being passed down.
