From the artist.

Music has always been an important part of my life. I use it to travel through time and relive moments that I often translate onto canvas. Sound of Spirits was inspired by Lord Ekomy Ndong’s song La Harpe Sacrée, also known as Ngomi Harp. Although the instrument in the painting is a kora, the spirit of the work comes from the connection I feel between music, memory and spirituality. The dreadlocks represent identity and spirituality. The musician becomes a vessel through which sound, memory and ancestral presence converge.
